Mar 25 hit-and-run case: Accused nabbed in Assam

The driver involved in the fatal hit-and-run incident near a stone crusher at 5th Mile, Chümoukedima, which claimed the life of N. William Koso, has been arrested at Khatkhati, Assam.

According to DCP (Crime) & PRO, Dimapur Police, the accused has been identified as Nijarul Islam (34), S/o Suruj Ali from Kapor Tora village, Morigaon district, Assam and a resident of Rangailong Colony, Burma Camp. He was arrested by Dimapur Police on Wednesday. A case has been registered and investigation underway, PRO stated.

The deceased, N. William Koso, was an AFC A-licensed football coach, a professionally trained coach educator, and convener of the Technical Committee of the Nagaland Super League.

Koso had reportedly stepped out of his Mahindra Thar to check on an earlier accident when a speeding Assam-registered Bolero rammed into the parked Thar, which in turn struck Koso and a nearby Scooty.

The impact caused severe head and back injuries, and though he was rushed to a nearby hospital, he was declared brought dead by doctors.
