Government of Nagaland has appointed Justice B.D. Agarwal retired high court judge as chairman of the Judicial Inquiry Commission (JIC) set up to ascertain the causes and circumstances that led to the incident of vandalism and forcible entry into Central Jail Dimapur on March 5 by a mob and killing of the under trial prisoner Sayed Sarif Khan and also the death of Inito Swu in the ensuing violence.
It may be recalled, that the government had earlier instituted a One-Man Inquiry headed by Veprasa Nyekha (retired) District & Session Judge to inquire into the facts and circumstances that led to the March 5 incident. According to DIPR, the Judicial Inquiry Commission headed by Justice B.D.Agarwal and retired D&S Judge Veprasa Nyekha held its first meeting at Police officers’ mess Chumukedima on May 17.
Justice Agarwal, in an order, has informed that the commission had decided to invite written statements form individuals, family members of the victims and organisations interested to assist the commission regarding the March 5 incident.
The written statements should be submitted with affidavits, documents and evidences in any form at the Commission’s office at Police officers’ mess Chumukedima on or before June 16,2015. (Advt on p-2)
