Veteran journalist and author Mark Tully passed away at Max Hospital, Saket, on Sunday due to multi-organ failure following a stroke.
Born in Kolkata on October 24, 1935, he was BBC New Delhi bureau chief for 22 years and presenter of Something Understood.
He covered major events including the Bangladesh war, Emergency, Operation Blue Star, and the assassinations of Indira and Rajiv Gandhi. Knighted in 2002, he received the Padma Bhushan in 2005.
