Mass drainage cleanliness drive of Seicierü River

DIMAPUR:

In a bid to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment, the Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB), in collaboration with the Kohima district administration, Kohima Municipal Council (KMC), concerned Ward Councilors and Colony authorities, will conduct a mass drainage cleanliness drive of the Seicierü river and its upper tributaries on February 28, 2026, from 7 a.m. onwards.
The drive will commence from Hotel Fira and Red Cross Building and conclude at Para Medical Junction (NH-29).
Residents, shopkeepers, and business establishments within the following colonies have been requested to participate actively: Ward-10: Officer Hill Colony; Ward-18: Para Medical / Merhulietsa Colony and Ward-19: Supply Colony, Lower Jail Colony & Lower PR Hill Colony.
In this regard, residents have been advised to bring basic cleaning tools, while the Kohima Municipal Council and Colony authorities will deploy garbage trucks for waste collection. Colony authorities have also been directed to oversee the drive within their jurisdictions to ensure full coverage. The Nagaland Pollution Control Board has appealed to all residents to extend full cooperation for the successful conduct of this initiative.
