The Dimapur public rally at State Stadium at 11 a.m. on Monday (January 23, 2017) called by the Joint Co-Ordination Committee (JCC) comprising of Ao, Sumi, Lotha, Chakhro Angami and Chakhesang tribes including Naga Council and ENPO is expected to draw huge crowd.
Speakers at the rally are expected to enlighten public on the reasons why all apex tribe organisations had asked the state government to defer the civic polls. Various tribe organisations have raised concerns with regard to specific clauses contained in the Nagaland Municipal Act 2001. The rally is also expected to decide on the future course of action with regard to the immediate focus –government’s adamant attitude on holding civic polls and warning on all organisations of response to any situation.
It may be noted that civic polls are being held under the shadow of apprehensions and the divide between the government and politicians in power and the public.
