Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, has announced that a district-wide mass social work will be conducted on April 10 starting from 7 am.
According to a DIPR report, all administrative officers, heads of offices, and members of the public have been urged to participate in the initiative. Heads of departments have been requested to ensure that participants bring necessary tools for the exercise.
Team leaders have been directed to coordinate with officials responsible for arranging vehicles and machinery for garbage collection and disposal, with all arrangements to be completed by April 9. Collected waste is to be disposed of at the Kohima Municipal Council dumping site in Meriema, and attendance must be submitted on the day of the programme.
The notification further stated that administrative officers in outpost areas will conduct similar social work activities in towns and villages under their respective jurisdictions. Kohima Municipal Council has been tasked with mobilising colonies and wards in coordination with ward councillors to ensure wide participation.
Further, the chief executive officer, Kohima Municipal Council has been informed to direct the Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) to ensure that social work from TCP Gate to Keziekie is carried out by the business establishments falling under that zone, and that all shops and establishments mandatorily clean the areas in front of their respective premises during the conduct of the social work. ADC Kohima, Ruopfukuotuo Noudi, will serve as the overall in-charge of the programme.
Authorities have called for active participation from all sections of society to ensure the success of the initiative.
