DIMAPUR: A district-wide mass social work was carried out across Chümoukedima on May 22, 2026 as part of monsoon preparedness measures.
The exercise focused on cleaning and unclogging drains, removal of debris and construction materials, waste disposal, clearing of foliage, and maintenance of public spaces and utilities.
SDO (C) & RO, Chümoukedima, Thejavizo Nakhro, led a joint inspection along National Highway-29 during the drive. A coordinated team comprising Water Resources Department, PWD, PHED, Fire & Emergency Services, 1st NAP Battalion, Chümoukedima Town Youth Organization and NHIDCL undertook cleaning activities along the NH stretch from 3rd Mile Airport culvert to Chathe Bridge (Patkai Bridge).
The social work was successfully conducted through the collective efforts of government departments, Chümoukedima Town Council, village councils, GBs, civil society organisations and members of the public. The initiative aimed to encourage community participation and promote a cleaner, healthier environment ahead of the monsoon season.
