Swachhta Hi Seva campaign ended successfully across Nagaland on October 2, with participation from government, NGOs, educational institutions and general public.
Mon: Focusing on the theme “Swachhta Hai Swasth Jeevan Ki Buniyad” the District Health Society (DHS) Mon empowered communities on water sanitation & hygiene and its impact on health.
In a press release from media officer NHM Mon, Leeyan Chemshy stated that the two week long “Swachhta Hi Seva” was observed by organizing cleanliness drives. On October 2, Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated with ‘Swachhta Pledge’ and painting competition on sanitation & hygiene.
STH, SCD: Sematilla Colony Dimapur (SCD) participated in the state wide mass social work on September 29 to commemorate Swatchh Bharat Day under the theme, “Let’s keep Sematilla clean”. In a press release from Sematilla Colony Council Dimapur president, Mary A. Swu stated that the drive was initiated by Sumi Totimi Hoho (STH), Sematilla Colony Dimapur. The work was carried out by cleared weeds along the side of the main roads, cleared clogged drains and also surroundings in the colonies.
GSC Kohima: The Good Shepherd Club (GSC) in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kohima and AG Colony Sanitation Committee organized a cleanliness drive-cum-awareness campaign on October 2 at A G Colony Kohima. The awareness programme was led by AG sanitation convenor, in which he urged all denizens to make the best use of dustbins available in the colony.
The club cleaned the road from Mohonkhola to department of Electricity, AG Colony Kohima. 34 members dedicated 2 hours each during the drive.
DPS: Delhi Public School (DPS) Dimapur commemorated the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi by initiating a series of programmes from October 1 to 2. A press release from DPS principal, B. K. Nanda stated that, a formal function was held during the school assembly on October 1, wherein the students of the sub-junior section conducted and also performed cultural items with the life and principles of Gandhi as its theme.
A social work was also undertaken by the students of Class V – VIII from the school gate till the Aoyimti Junction.
A written quiz on the life and works of Mahatma Gandhi was also conducted.
A programme was also held on October 2, for the campus teachers, staff and children where Bhajans on the life of Gandhi were played. B.K Nanda, principal of DPS Dimapur elucidated the context of each song, highlighting the core values, principles and ideals of Mahatma Gandhi.
PVHSS: Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School (PVHSS) Dimapur celebrated the 149th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2. In a press release from PVHSS stated that PVHSS principal, Monoj Bhattacharjee delivered the inspirational speech on the life and philosophy of Mohandas Karam Chand Gandhi and enlightened the students and teachers.
Coinciding with the 149 birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, he also appealed to the gathering to join hands to start cleanliness in their family and within.
The vice-principal, Ashok Kumar Ray also delivered a short speech. The principal and vice-principal led the students and teachers of the Vidyapith to start cleanliness drive in and around Milan Mandir Road, Dimapur. The meeting was conducted by senior teacher of Vidyapith, Rahul Bhattacharjee.
PVC: Pfutseromi Village Community organised mass social work at NH 29, below Pfutsero town, PWD road, between Pfutsero town and Pfutseromi village on October 2.
TGOUN: The Global Open University Nagaland (TGOUN), department of Hotel Management and Fashion Technology, organized essay competition, extempore speech and quiz competition based on the life of Mahatma Gandhi and central and state government welfare schemes, to let the students understand more on duties of cleaning as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. About 60 students from both the department participated in the competition, and the short speech was delivered by vice-chancellor Dr. H.N Dutta TGOUN.
ZMHSS: Zakiesato Memorial Higher Secondary School (ZMHSS) Dimapur conducted cleanliness drive in and around the school and on the street of National Highway 39 from DDSC Stadium to Nagaland Gate, Golaghat Road and the cleanliness pledge was administered in the school assembly on October 1.
EBC: Students of Eastern Bible College (EBC) student conducted a cleanliness drive at Bank Colony and Supermarket on October 1 as part of the Swatch Bharat campaign.
UYA Dimapur: Members of United Youth Association Dimapur (UYA) conducted cleanliness drive on the theme, “Swachhta Hi Seva” at station road flyover area on October 2. Around 30 members took part in the drive.
BMSJ: Baptist Mission School Jotsoma (BMSJ) observed 150th Birthday of Mahatma Gandhi under the theme, “Dignity of Labour” and held a cleanliness drive in and around the school premises on October 2.
BWA Dimapur: Business Welfare Association (BWA) Kohima Road, Dimapur conducted a social work along the stretch from new fly over bridge to under construction bridge connecting Purana bazaar on October 1.
DBHSS Dimapur: Teachers and students of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Dimapur participated in mass social work as part of Swatch Bharat Bharat Mission on October 2.
