As part of pre-monsoon preparedness initiative, the deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur has announced that a mass social work would be carried out across Dimapur district on May 31, 2025, starting 6 a.m.
In a circular, DC Dimapur Dr. Tinojongshi Chang said that the proposed social work aims to address crucial sanitation and drainage concerns. DC stated that effort would focus on the unclogging of drains, clearance of construction debris, foliage removal, proper waste disposal, and general upkeep of public spaces and utilities.
DC has directed both government offices and private institutions in the district to mobilize their staff to clean their premises and citizens to clean their houses, neighbourhoods, and drainage systems.
Shopkeepers have been directed to ensure cleanliness around their establishments. DC has tasked the village councils and GBs with supervising the drives in their areas.
Dimapur Municipal Council, East Dimapur Town Council, and respective Village Councils would oversee the disposal of garbage and debris, DC informed.
All shops and business establishments have been instructed to remain closed till 9am on the day of social work. A helpline number—9615217798 (Wapang Longchar, DMC) has also been provided for coordination and queries.
DC underscored the importance of community participation in ensuring effective sanitation measures ahead of the monsoon season. DC also cautioned that “no work no pay” would be enforced on all the government employees and instructed that attendance be submitted to the SDO (C).
