A massive fire broke out at the Manipur State Transport area in Chakhesang Colony, Dimapur, around 6.30 p.m. on Monday, destroying transport godowns and several houses causing damages estimated at over Rs. 2 crore. No casualties were reported.
According to Sub-Inspector Baushong from the Central Fire Station, eight fire tenders– five from Central Station, two from West Station, and one from Chümoukedima Station– were deployed to battle the blaze, which took over two hours to be completely doused.
The affected godowns are reportedly owned by four individuals, with significant property damage reported from two of them. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain its origin.
