MBBS Student Found Dead at BRIMS Hostel, Online Gaming Loss Suspected

Anishkar Chouhan (21), a resident of Salgar Thanda village in Chincholi taluk, Kalaburagi district, was found dead at the Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences (BRIMS) hostel on Tuesday.

Police said the incident occurred around 9:30 AM, when Chouhan was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan in his room. Fellow students and hostel staff alerted authorities, and Superintendent of Police Pradeep Gunti inspected the scene.

Initial investigation suggests Chouhan may have taken the step after losing about ₹80,000 in online games, though police stated further inquiry is underway.

Chouhan was pursuing his final year MBBS and aspired to become a doctor. His family, in deep shock, is preparing to file a complaint. Police confirmed a case will be registered and investigation will continue.
