DIMAPUR, AUG 1 (NPN): Bringing laurels to the country and Assam, Luiti Baruah, a Class IX student of Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS), Borjhar, won a silver medal while representing India at the 3rd Asian Youth Ju-Jitsu Championship 2026 held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, from July 13 to 15.
The championship featured young athletes from 25 countries competing across various categories. Luiti impressed throughout the tournament with a series of strong performances to secure a podium finish for India.
In the final, she put up a spirited performance against a competitor from host nation Kazakhstan and finished with the silver medal in her category. The medal was presented by Ju-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF) Head Referee Alexandre Nascimento.
The achievement has brought pride to India, Assam and the MBRS community. The school said Luiti’s success reflects its commitment to promoting excellence in sports alongside academics while encouraging students to pursue their talents with discipline, perseverance and dedication.
The school also described the achievement as another milestone in its efforts to nurture young sporting talent and develop well-rounded individuals capable of competing on the international stage.
