Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) has once again cautioned the public to remain vigilant after three persons were apprehended for selling fake electronic goods in Mokokchung district on May 27.
In a press statement, MCCI vice president, Imkongchuba Longkumer and general secretary Limalenden Longkumer claimed that on May 27, following information on the suspicious movement of fake goods sellers, the representatives of MCCI swung into action and nabbed three individuals near Akhoya village gate at NH 2.
The three have been identified as Rijul Ahmen (21), son of Muhi Ali; Faheem Uddin (21), son of Jalam Uddin, and Bablu Ali (22), son of Babul Ali, all residents of Hiragaon in Amguri, Assam.
According to MCCI, the trio were in possession of fake Samsung LED TVs and other substandard electronic goods and three suitcases. They were also travelling without ILPs and duping the villagers by selling the fake and substandard goods without any sales permit from the area’s administration and GST challans, the release stated.
They were later handed over to police personnel of Changtongya police station for further investigation.
Stating that it was concerned about public safety and security threat posed by such dubious elements, the MCCI pointed out that the integrity and character of the police personnel manning the inter-state check post at Tuli also “proved to be questionable as they were allowed to pass through the gate without ILP”.
Meanwhile, MCCI has appealed to the community leaders, village council elders and the consumers in general to be vigilant and inform the nearest police station in case of any such dubious sellers.
