Measles-Rubella Campaign in Nagaland from October 3

A Measles-Rubella (MR) Campaign in Nagaland will be launched on October 3 for the entire state of Nagaland. During the campaign, children up to 15 years will be vaccinated.
This was stated by District programme officer RCH-UIP, Dr. Rebecca Y. Sema at the Dimapur “District Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign Workshop” held on July 2 at the CMO’s Conference Hall.
During the inaugural function, she oriented the trainees on the upcoming Measles-Rubella (MR) Campaign. Dr. Rebecca told the trainees that the campaign aims to rapidly build up immunity for both measles and rubella diseases in the community so as to prevent the disease. With this target in mind she said that all the children in the target age group should receive the MR vaccine during the campaign. 
Children aged between nine months to 15 years are required to receive the MR vaccine during the campaign regardless of their previous vaccination status. The dose that will be given during this mass campaign is a supplementary dose. The MR Vaccine used in the campaign is a safe and an effective vaccine for elimination of measles and control of rubella, the release stated.
Resource persons for the workshop were, Dr. Abhishek Singh, RRT WHO, Dr. Rebecca, DPO, UIP/RCH, Dr. Narola, MO Chumukedima, and Imli, project officer, UNDP. The trainees included block medical officers, SHP MO and staff, block program managers, ASHA coordinators of all the blocks and DPMU staff.
