The Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign (MRVC) was launched across Nagaland on October 3.
Kiphire: Kiphire district launched the MRVC with minister for Soil & Water Conservation and Geology & Mining, V. Kashiho Sangtam inaugurating the campaign at Loyola Higher Secondary School Kiphire on Tuesday.
Kashiho Sangtam said that health, education and road were the basics of life, he therefore appealed the gathering to be health conscious. He said that without health no one could serve the society or to go for further study. He also appealed the medical staff in Kiphire to discharge their duties with devotion and sincerity. He also appealed the parents to get their children vaccinated in order to have healthy life. The minister also said that officers posted in Kiphire district have many obligations to the people and should have determination to serve the people.Welcome address was delivered by chief medical officer Kiphire, Dr. E. Motsuthung Patton, while key note address was given by district immunization officer Kiphire, Dr. Pewezo Khalo followed by launching of MRVC by the minister. The programme was chaired by nodal teacher MRVC LHSS Kiphire Viliho Sumi. Note of appreciation was pronounced by DPH, NHM Kiphire, Kukehieto. (Correspondent)

Wokha: Wokha district held the launching programme of MRVC at DBHSS, Wokha on Oct 3.
According to DIPR report, Dr. Chumben Murry, MLA while launching the campaign urged all to extend co-operation to make the campaign a success. He also stated that MRVC was for prevention of the two diseases and appealed all parents to give effort so that not a single child was left out. He also congratulated the medical staff involved in the painstaking work and the efforts they have put in to make the campaign a success.
Deputy commissioner, Wokha, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon appealed to all the parents not to have any misconception regarding the vaccine because it had no adverse effect.
Zunheboto: In Zunheboto district the campaign was launched by deputy commissioner Zunheboto, Shanavas C. DIPR reported that that, DC appreciated the hard work worked for about two months for this campaign. He also requested the church to pray for success of the campaign and that the church leaders should educate the people about the campaign.
CMO Zunheboto, Dr. C.W. Tungoe gave welcome address and said that MRVC would be done in 3 phases, 1st phase to schools, 2nd phase to outreach and 3rd phase to unreached.
Earlier release of MR vaccines was done by deputy commissioner Zunheboto, district welfare officer Zunheboto, district education officer Zunheboto, and principal, GHSS Zunheboto.
Peren: Peren district also launched the MRVC at Old Town Peren Headquarter at GMS Keletzai ward by ADC Peren, Chubawati Chang. Others present were Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, Dr. Denis Hangsing, CMO Peren and Dr. Albert, MO CHC Jalukie. On day one, 42 schools were covered.
Bhandari: EAC, Bhandari Head Quarter, Sulanthung Khenjung launched the MRVC at Government High School, Bhandari. Rev. Abemo Patton, pastor, Bhandari Town Baptist Church invoked God’s blessing. Dr. Atula CHC, Bhandari chaired the programme and AHM, GHS Bhandari, Y. Yanbemo Lotha gave vote of thanks.
Tseminyu: MO Tseminyu, Dr. Tinenlo launched the programme at Baptist Higher Secondary School in Tseminyu town. Spot sensitisation for parents, teachers and students on MRVC was conducted before launching the MR vaccination campaign. Two school students from BHSS Tseminyu volunteered themselves to be vaccinated despite reluctance from their parents on the launching day.
Changtongya: School Rally for Measles and Rubella Vaccination campaign of all children from 9 months to 15 years of age was held at Changtongya town police point on October 1, organised by department of School Education Changtongya town and participated by all the government and private schools under Changtongya town. Dr. Wapang, MO Ayush, community health centre Changtongya encouraged all the parents to take it seriously and avail the vaccination for the children. Short speech was also delivered by Satemmongla, SDEO Changtongya.
Longleng: MRVC was launched at St. Joseph School, Longleng with deputy commissioner John Tsulise Sangtam as the special guest on October 3.
According to DIPR report, the DC maintained that good health was essential for better education and healthy society, whereby he appealed to make Longleng cent percent MR vaccinated district in the state. The DC also congratulated Dr. Imnameren and his team for their yeomen service in disseminating awareness on MR Vaccine covering every village, churches, schools, wards, etc for the last four months in the district.
Dr. S. Imnameren Phom, DPO (RCH/UIP) Longleng in his keynote address also informed that a total of 12717 beneficiaries have been targeted in Longleng district covering 111 schools, 52 villages and 11 wards. Out of the total beneficiaries 9906 were students and would be vaccinated in the schools, he added. A short play on MR Vaccination was performed by the students of St. Joseph School.
Phek: Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign (MRVC) was launched at BAMHS Phek town by deputy commissioner, Orenthung Lotha on October 3.
A press release by district immunization officer Phek, Dr. Kolhitso Khalo stated that, the DC called upon the gathering stating that every child should get vaccination on Measles/Rubella for healthy life and over all development.
Dr. Wethselo sr. pediatrician District Hospital Phek in his short speech on MRVC stated that every child has the right to get vaccination and ensured that children are protected from Measles and Rubella diseases.
Mokokchung: Deputy commissioner of Mokokchung, Sachin Jaiswal launched the MRVC at Children School Mokokchung on October 3. In his short speech he thanked the Medical department for tireless campaign and also mentioned about the MRV. Dr. B. Medemayang CMO gave the key note address.The programme was launched with representatives from WHO, Medical department, allied departments and school administration chaired by Achila VCCM.
Tuensang: MRVC was Launched in Tuensang district by additional deputy commissioner Mono Khiamniungan at Chaba School Tuensang town, on October 3.
A press release from district media officer Apheng stated that, the DC in his speech thanked the parents, teachers and students for coming forward for the mr vaccination and he wished success of the mr campaign in the district. Key note address was made by Dr. T. Pangjung Sangtam CMO. The coverage will continue till the last week of October 2018. M. Akhanganchu 10 year’s old and class-3 student of Chaba School was the first student vaccinated on the launching day.
DHS Mon: District Health Society (DHS) Mon inaugural programme on Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign was conducted at St. Mary’s High School Mon on October 3.
A press release from media officer NHM, Mon, Leeyan Chemshy stated that the headmaster, Suresh reported that there were still some qualms around the school with many questions and doubts on MR in-spite of the repeated assurance. Deputy commissioner Mon, assured the gathered that the MRV has been certified by the World Health Organization and that was totally safe. Prayer of dedication was pronounced by home evangelist KBCM, Rev. Chingang Konyak, followed by vote of thanks by CMO Mon, Dr Kechongol Sophie.
