Media workshop ‘Vartalap’ in Dimapur

A one-day media workshop “Vartalap” on 11 Years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Government was held on Saturday at Saramati Hotel, Dimapur, organized by Press Information Bureau (PIB) Kohima under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.
Dimapur Deputy Commissioner, Tinojongshi Chang, who attended as chief guest, appreciated the initiative aimed at equipping media professionals with accurate information on government schemes. He stressed the media’s vital role in connecting government programmes to people, especially in rural areas, and urged journalists to share success stories to inspire others.
Guest speaker, Lt. Col. Amit Shukla, PRO Defence (Nagaland, Manipur & Arunachal Pradesh), spoke on reforms in the Ministry of Defence, declaring 2025 as the “Year of Reforms.” He said the sector is embracing technologies like AI, robotics, and machine learning to boost efficiency. He highlighted the Indian Army’s work in Nagaland, including BRO’s Project Sevak and the contributions of NCC, which has over 9,000 cadets in the state.
Col. Shukla announced that an NCC unit in Kohima would soon shift to Chümoukedima, where an NCC Training Academy is being planned to improve infrastructure and accessibility.
Deputy Director PIB North East Zone Guwahati, Pavni Gupta, spoke on PIB Factcheck and related issues. Health resource persons included Joint Director of Health & Family Welfare Dr Khelito Zhimomi, Deputy Director Dr Thomas Keppen, and PMJAY Operation Manager Alongla Aier, briefed the participants on health schemes.
An army medical team led by Capt. Narendra Ningthoujam from Rangapahar Military Station conducted a health camp during the event.
