DIMAPUR: Zunheboto District Legal Services Authority (ZDLSA), in collaboration with Hezukhu Memorial District Hospital, organised a medical camp for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) at Town Hall, Zunheboto on September 11.
According to DIPR report, the camp aimed at screening and identifying PwDs, providing medical assessment by qualified professionals, and facilitating issuance of disability certificates to eligible persons.
It also offered guidance on rights, entitlements and welfare schemes, along with legal awareness and assistance in accessing free legal services and government benefits.
The programme, chaired by Retainer Lawyer ZDLSA, Easter H. Yepthomi, began with an invocation by Chaplain, District Hospital, Zunheboto, Kivika Yeptho.
Delivering the keynote address, District & Sessions Judge and chairman ZDLSA, Atoka Achumi, stressed the importance of ensuring access to justice, healthcare and welfare benefits for PwDs. He called for coordinated efforts among legal, medical and administrative institutions to ensure eligible persons receive the support and entitlements due to them.
Medical Superintendent, District Hospital, Zunheboto, Keholi Chishi, in a short speech, highlighted the importance of medical assessment and timely access to healthcare services for PwDs.
The camp also extended guidance to persons requiring additional medical or legal assistance. Eligible persons were encouraged to attend with family members or caregivers to avail medical, legal and welfare services.
