District level review meeting on Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) & Adolescent Health was held at chief medical officer’s office (CMO) office, Phek on Friday.
In a press release, district media officer, NHM Phek, Kutolu Nakro informed that the meeting discussed performance on adolescent friendly health clinics and weekly iron folic supplement was reviewed.
Under Weekly Iron Folic Supplement (WIFS) programme iron tablets are being provided to adolescents enrolled in government schools & Anganwadi centres.
The programme aims at reducing prevalence of nutritional anaemia in adolescent population. Deworming with albendazole is also being done bi-annually.
It may be mentioned that under RBSK, a team of medical professionals visit schools and AWWs centres for screening of anemia, detection of congenital deformities and common diseases in adolescents.
