Meethari Marwar Cricketers crowned champions of Marwari Premier League

Meethari Marwar Cricketers emerged as the champions of the 3rd edition of the Marwari Premier League (MPL) organized by Marwari Yuva Manch Dimapur Shikhar (MYMDS) and presented by Onkarmal Agarwal Foundation, after defeating Agrasen Sena in the final on Sunday at DDSC Public Ground, Dimapur.
Altogether, 16 teams from across the state participated in the night tournament. In the final match, Agrasan Sena batted first and set a commendable target of 104 runs for six wickets in the allotted 10 Overs.
However, Meethari Marwar Cricketers were quick to chase the target in just 8 overs with seven wickets in hand, securing themselves as champions of the 3rd edition of the Marwari Premier League.
Meanwhile, gracing the occasion as chief guest at the closing ceremony, State BJP president Benjamin Yepthomi commended the Marwari community for its significant contributions to Nagaland’s development.
He highlighted that the samaj has not only been at the forefront in business and trade, including being among the highest contributors of GST, but has also played an active role in social work and nation-building.
The Marwari Samaj, he noted, has been among the earliest settlers in the state and continues to be one of the strongest contributors to its progress.
He also lauded the efforts of MYMDS in promoting sports and unity, emphasizing that sports serve as a powerful tool to bring people together.
Ending his speech, he “requested” the players not to hit “many sixers” pointing that someone might consider it as “Ball Chori”.
Earlier, in the closing programme, welcome address was delivered by project chairman, Rishikesh Sharma, while short message delivered by president MYMDS, Jay Kumar Agarwal, and vote of thanks by project convener, Arinjay Jain.
Special invitees included State Treasurer, BJP Nagaland, Kamal Kr Jain, Mandal in-charge & Finance Committee, BJP Nagaland, Mahesh Kotecha, State Spokesperson, BJP Nagaland, Chandu Agarwal and DMC Councillor, Mahesh Agarwal.
