Meeting on tuberculosis held in Wokha

Tuberculosis Forum (TBF) and Tuberculosis Co-morbidity Committee (TBCC) meeting was held on September 8 at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Wokha.

A press release by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Wokha office stated that chairperson of the meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Wokha, Lankonsen Tsanglao said the meeting was convened to review the activities of TB Forum and TB co-morbidity committee.

District TB officer and member secretary Dr. Akum Jamir presented a brief report on the various activities carried out in the district under TB Mukh Bharat Abhiyan and the TB treatment monitoring tools under Nikshay platform. 

Members of the TB forum discussed about the monitoring of treatment and information, education and communication outreach activities among faith-based organizations, schools and community at large in the district.

CMO Wokha Dr. C.W. Tungoe advised the district administration to be informed and coordinate with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) for smooth implementation of the Advocacy Communication and Social Mobilization (ACSM) among communities, stakeholders and civil societies.

Thera Welfare Society president, Therali Tungoe gave a brief account of the ACSM conducted by NGOs and the challenges faced by them to implement it.

The meeting also witnessed a testimony of a TB patient who shared his experiences on the timely regular treatment received under the national tuberculosis elimination programme and the financial benefits under Nikshay Poshan Yojana.
