Shillong, May 12: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Tuesday condemned the physical and racial harassment of two North East women in South Delhi.
“Such repeated acts of violence and discrimination cannot be dismissed as isolated incidents and must be met with the strictest punishment under the law,” Sangma posted on X.
The Chief Minister urged authorities to take immediate action into the matter.
The assault occurred on Monday morning evening when the two women were allegedly subjected to derogatory remarks and physical assault near Nehru Place in South Delhi.
Both women were escorted to AIIMS Hospital where their medical examinations were conducted, even as Delhi Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
