SHILLONG, AUG 24: A Division Bench of the Meghalaya High Court on Monday directed the State government to produce the case diary relating to the violence on August 19 during the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) black-flag bike rally in Shillong.
During the hearing of the Public Interest Litigation (PIL), the bench, comprising Justice Wanlura Diengdoh and Justice Hamarsan Singh Thangkhiew, noted that two vehicles of the Meghalaya High Court carrying judicial officers were attacked, and a PSO and a driver were assaulted.
The court asked the state to produce the case dairy in this regard and underscored that in all these cases, the “same expeditious consideration should be given”, including the attack on a public transport bus.
In compliance of the August 20 order of the Meghalaya High Court, a status report was produced by the state government on Monday,, on the various steps taken, especially the formation of the Special Investigation Team to conduct expeditious investigation into the circumstances, leading to the incidents on August 19.
As the investigation is at the initial stage, the court listed the matter for September 1, for a fresh status report with case dairies to be produced by the state.
