Meghalaya Police to Reconstruct Crime Scene in Honeymoon Murder Case

The Meghalaya Police will take five accused in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case to the Sohra-Cherrapunji area next week to reconstruct the crime as part of their investigation.

East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem confirmed that the suspects, including Raghuvanshi’s wife Sonam Raghuvanshi, are undergoing interrogation. Two of the accused—Sonam and her alleged lover, Raj Singh Kushwaha—have admitted to their involvement in the conspiracy but continue to blame each other as the mastermind. Authorities are determined to establish the truth before concluding the investigation.

The murder case has shocked the nation after Raja Raghuvanshi’s body was found on June 2 in a deep gorge below the Wei Sawdong parking lot in Sohra. Officials launched Operation Honeymoon, tracking and arresting five suspects across Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

Sonam allegedly orchestrated the killing during their honeymoon, just days after marrying Raja on May 11. Following her husband’s disappearance, she surrendered to Uttar Pradesh Police on June 7, while the other accused were brought to Shillong shortly after.

With public interest in the case growing, Meghalaya Police plan to submit charge sheets soon, aiming for swift legal proceedings as they unravel the truth behind this chilling crime.
