Meghalaya: Storm Batters Rambrai’s Mawlangbah, 20 Houses Damaged

A violent storm with heavy rainfall struck the Rambrai area of West Khasi Hills, leaving Mawlangbah village worst affected as nearly 20 houses, the Presbyterian Church, and the LP School sustained major damage. One family suffered severely when their home collapsed, injuring four members – Carmelius Lyngdoh, Bisdalin Kharbani, Ribok Kharbani, and Shngainbor Kharbani – who were taken to Civil Hospital Nongstoin despite delays caused by fallen trees blocking roads. Relatives noted that the father and one child may need transfer to Shillong for advanced treatment, while officials have begun assessing the destruction and residents are starting recovery efforts.
