Meghalaya women beat Nagaland by five wickets in Senior T20 Trophy

SHILLONG, OCT 13 (AGENCIES)

Meghalaya registered their first victory in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2025-26, defeating Nagaland by five wickets with an over to spare in a plate group match held in Agartala today, reports Shillong Today News.
After their first three matches were abandoned due to bad weather, Meghalaya made the most of their first full outing to secure a convincing win.
Winning the toss, Meghalaya opted to field first and restricted Nagaland to a modest 74/7 in 20 overs. Solina Jaba was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3/14 in 4 overs, while Rubi Chetri (1/10 in 3) and Debasmita Dutta (1/13 in 4) also contributed with disciplined spells. Najmeen Khatun top-scored for Nagaland with 19 runs.
In reply, Meghalaya had a shaky start, losing a couple of early wickets, but Debasmita Dutta anchored the innings with a calm and composed 31 off 47 balls (3 fours). She found a steady partner in Suriti Kumari Ray, who made 18 off 30 balls (2 fours), as the duo put together a valuable 44-run stand for the third wicket.
Later, Rubi Chetri guided the team home with an unbeaten 16 off 21 balls, ensuring Meghalaya reached the target with one over remaining. Debasmita’s all-round performance earned her the Player of the Match award.
Meghalaya will look to continue their winning momentum when they face Mizoram on Wednesday.
