Menstrual Hygiene Day was observed in Kiphire on May 28 by the Chief Medical Officer in collaboration with Government High School Yangphi. The event focused on breaking taboos and raising awareness about menstrual hygiene.
AMN RBSK, Yangmoi, spoke about the importance of maintaining hygiene during menstruation and proper waste disposal. She encouraged women to manage their periods with dignity and confidence, emphasizing that menstruation should not be considered shameful.
Dr. T. Yelo Mero, DPO UIP/RCH, discussed the “Stop Diarrhoea Campaign,” which promotes awareness of diarrhoea, the use of ORS and Zinc, and the importance of hygiene. The campaign aims to prevent child deaths from diarrhoea and will run in two phases:
- Preparatory phase (June 2–15, 2025) and Implementation phase (June 16–July 31, 2025)
Dr. Amos Sangtam, a medical officer, talked about ongoing activities under the School Health Program (RBSK), focusing on anaemia prevention through the 3T approach: Test, Treat, and Talk. MTS John Rick provided information on the National Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme (NVBDCP).
The event also included the distribution of 1,500 sanitary pads to young girls and a health screening.
