Pungro Village Students’ Union (PVSU) organised a mental health awareness programme on July 26 at its conference hall under the theme “Your Mental Health is Your Wealth.”
The event aimed to promote well-being, academic resilience and social awareness among students and villagers. Dr. Sikukhiumew, Medical Officer at CHC Pungro, served as the resource person.
Delivering keynote address, Dr. Sikukhiumew shared that one in four individuals face mental health challenges, often unnoticed. He stressed that mental health affects all age groups and urged students to prioritise their well-being. Highlighting childhood trauma as a key concern, he encouraged positive thinking and self-awareness.
Head GB of Pungro Village, Vongtsukiu, advised students to stay focused on education. Joshua, secretary of Yimkhiung Youth Organisation, thanked PVSU and called for collective responsibility in promoting mental health, involving government, institutions, churches and civil society.
The programme featured a special presentation by Sujali. Invocation and benediction were led by Sushenla and Vasangla from Pungro Village Baptist Borü.
PVSU assistant secretary for Art & Culture, Khuzhokla, moderated the programme. President and vice president of the Students’ Union welcomed guests and conveyed gratitude to all attendees.
