Merangkong village hit by ASF outbreak

DIMAPUR: African Swine Fever (ASF) has reportedly claimed around 300 pigs in and around Merangkong village, causing concern among livestock farmers who depend on pig rearing for their livelihood.
Merangkong Village Council chairman Tino Yaden said the outbreak had resulted in the death of hundreds of pigs, leaving farmers in deep distress. He stated that many families in the area rely entirely on pig farming as a source of income and livelihood, and the losses suffered due to the disease have severely affected them.
Yaden appealed to the concerned department of the Nagaland government to take immediate notice of the situation and provide necessary assistance to the affected farmers.
He urged the authorities to intervene at the earliest to help mitigate the hardships faced by livestock owners and prevent further losses from the outbreak.
