Mercury level dips as cold wave sweeps Nagaland

Overcast skies followed by showers, plunged mercury level to nearly freezing point in most parts of Nagaland on Wednesday. In Kohima, the day temperature was recorded at 19°C and after the overcast skies and light showers, the temperature by night time, was recorded at 2°C. 
In Dimapur, overcast skies followed by showers in the day, brought down mercury level from 17°C in the day to 11°C at night. Dimapur also experienced light showers in the night. Forecast for Thursday in Kohima and Dimapur will be partly cloudy as per weather report. 
Meanwhile, according to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the chilly weather prevailed in the north with moderate to dense fog caused delays to flights and train schedules. Icy winds from snow-clad Himalayas will sustain the chill factor in the north eastern region.
