The treasurer’s office of the NPF 25 Mongoya A/C Youth Wing was inaugurated, Monday, at Penli Ward, Mokokchung by the sitting MLA and advisor to the chief minister of Nagaland, Merentoshi R Jamir, as the chief guest.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Merentoshi stated that the present Naga generation was crying out for a change. Questioning as to “Change from whom and where?” Merentoshi said that change can only begin from self. He said one of the negative aspects of Nagaland was the money talk politics (during elections), which greatly hampers the growth of Nagaland, he added.
This is where a change must be brought about, said Merentoshi even as he challenged the constituency party workers, especially the youth wing, the key force of any political party, to be role models of that “change” for others to emulate.
While delivering a short note of appreciation, the president, NPF Youth Wing, Mokokchung division, Molo Jamir said that the party would be strengthened when the party youth workers were self-sufficient/reliant. He therefore, urged the party members to venture out for opportunities and be industries.
Earlier, short speeches were delivered by the new treasurer, Chubatoshi, N Bendang Jamir, Toshiakum, president NPF Women Wing 25 Mongoya A/C, Narola and president NPF 25 Mongoya A/C, Ojen. The welcome note was delivered by president NPF 25 Mongoya A/C Youth Wing, Pur Kichu while the introductory speech was said by general secretary (Information), Imnawapang. The NPF party flag was also hoisted at the programme by Merentoshi.
Merentoshi also visited the ‘Tsungremmong Clash of Indoor Games’, at the Cosmos Entertainment Hall. While exhorting the participants (Carroom, Arm Wrestling and Snooker) Merentoshi said, “games and sports have always been part of our culture, maintain the culture for identity is our culture”. Further, he called on the participants to compete sportingly, and at the same time he advised, “one should harness their talents for a livelihood”. He said, opting for a white collared job, in Nagaland was at saturation low ebb, therefore, he opined that the Naga youths should venture into avenues for self-sufficiency/reliance, with the ample opportunities available. He however expressed that one should be dedicated, innovative and industrious in this competitive world.
The token prizes for winners in the various categories were sponsored by Merentoshi and part of the organising aspects was sponsored by deputy speaker, Imtikumzuk Longkumer. The care–taker and organizer of the event was Longriwati Imchen.
