DIMAPUR: Several community organisations across Nagaland organised felicitation programmes to celebrate the achievements of HSLC and HSSLC 2026 toppers, reflecting collective pride and encouragement for academic excellence.
At Kohima, the Angami Women Organization (AWO) and Angami Students’ Union (ASU) jointly organised a felicitation programme for HSLC and HSSLC 2026 toppers from the Angami community at AWO Ki, Kohima, on April 30.
Altogether, eight HSLC toppers, three HSSLC toppers in Arts, two in Science, and one each in HSLC and HSSLC Tenyidie subject toppers were honoured during the programme.
Er. Seyiekhrietuo Solo, SDO (Civil), Kohima, delivered the exhortation as the main speaker, encouraging students to remain steadfast in their pursuit of excellence. Greetings were shared by ASU president Diezevisie Nakhro, while HSSLC topper Keleno Thorie spoke on behalf of the achievers. Zakievinuo Keditsu also addressed the gathering.
The programme began with invocation by AWO joint secretary Vilaseno Zao, followed by a special number presented by ASU general secretary Rajuselie Chiicha. AWO president Neithono R. Sothu chaired the event, while AWO treasurer Kevinguno Meyase led a special prayer for the toppers.
The Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako (YAA) hosted the 4th edition of the M. Chuba Meritorious Award at Cimorb Hotel Conference Hall, Kohima. Instituted in memory of late M. Chuba, the award recognises the highest aggregate score among Yimkhiung candidates in HSLC. This year’s awardee, Ashila K, who secured 94.83% and a Top 20 rank, was felicitated with a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh, a memento and a certificate. The programme was chaired by YAA general secretary Runshito Lims. Short speeches were delivered by family representatives of late M. Chuba and Yimkhiung Union Kohima president Moses P. Yimchunger. A special song was presented by YSUD general secretary Wungyinla, while Ashila shared her academic journey. The event concluded with prayers and benediction by community leaders.
In Dimapur, ZSUD organised a felicitation programme at North East Christian University (NECU), Burma Camp, under the theme “Honouring Achievers, Inspiring Tomorrow.” Keyiranding Hegui, joint secretary, Land Revenue and president of Zeliang Officers Association Nagaland (ZOAN), graced the occasion as special guest, while Dr. Hiabe Zeliang, joint director, Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, delivered the keynote address. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, apex bodies, senior citizens and tribal organisations. ZSUD expressed gratitude to all contributors and well wishers for their support.
Gorkha Youth Club Dimapur also held a felicitation programme to honour outstanding achievers from the Gorkha community. Among those recognised were Srishti Thapa (Top 7 HSSLC, 94.20%), Jemimah Grace (Top 5 HSLC), Jason Rai (90.40% CBSE, subject topper), and Khusi Khadka (3rd position in Commerce, Governor’s Award recipient). All achievers were presented with merit certificates and cash prizes. The event was graced by L.N. Subba, chief convener of Gorkhaland Rastriya Maunch, as chief guest, and Deepak Chetri (executive member BJP Nagaland) and John Thakuri (ANGSU president) as guests of honour. Speakers lauded the students’ achievements and urged the youth to remain resilient and actively participate in community development.
These programmes across Kohima and Dimapur highlighted the commitment of community organisations in nurturing academic excellence and inspiring the younger generation to pursue greater heights with discipline, humility and dedication.
