DIMAPUR: Minister for Rural Development & SIRD, Metsubo Jamir, has extended congratulations to Guru Sangyusang S. Pongener on being conferred the Padma Shree Award, India’s prestigious civilian honour.
In his felicitation message, Metsubo described the recognition as a proud moment not only for the Ao community but also for the state of Nagaland.
He termed the award a fitting tribute to Guru Sangyusang’s lifelong dedication to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Ao Nagas.
Highlighting his invaluable contributions, Metsubo noted that Guru Sangyusang had earlier received several honours including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and the Governor’s Award. He lauded him as a “true living repository of cultural heritage,” whose relentless efforts over six decades have safeguarded indigenous traditions for future generations.
Metsubo conveyed appreciation and best wishes, expressing hope that Guru Sangyusang’s legacy would continue to inspire and strengthen the cultural pride of the people.
