MGDVA: Proposed blockade temporarily withdrawn

Phek District Maytas-Gayatri Damaged Victim Association (PDMGDVA) has announced temporary withdrawal of its proposed indefinite road blockade on the ongoing Chakhabama-Zunheboto and Phek-Pfutsero two-laning roads from August 16.

According to its general secretary Kuvesa Medeo, this follows the State government filing its reply before Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench on Wednesday vis-à-vis case no. PIL 9/2019.

PDMGDVA had earlier set a 30-day deadline for the government to file its reply, failing which it threatened to launch an indefinite road blockade.

The association also resolved to extend similar chance to Government of India (respondent no.1 in the PIL) to file reply without further delay, for which it would submit a memorandum to the Centre at an appropriate time, Medeo added.
