MGNREGA Day observed in Zunheboto, Kiphire, Peren

Joining the rest of the country, Zunheboto, Kiphire and Peren districts also observed the 10th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) February 2.
In Zunheboto, the MGNREGA Day was observed at the VDB Hall Old Town Zunheboto with deputy commissioner (DC) Zunheboto Temsu Longkumer as chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, DC expressed pleasure at being part of the commemoration and stressed on the separation of moral and financial matters. He said economic integrity and standards cannot be achieved unless moral and financial matters were placed in separate ways. Longkumer urged the government servants at all levels to be more sincere and committed in their services for the benefit of rural populace.
DC also highlighted on book keeping, monitoring and sensitization concerning the grassroots level. Meanwhile, DC expressed dismay over the absence of some block officers (BDOs) and poor attendance at the programme. He maintained that the programme could have been organized in more elaborate manner. On the occasion, DC also assured to visit each block before the advent of monsoon season.
“Broad Outline on MGNREGA” and keynote address was delivered by DRDA project director Imotemjen. He assured that the best block/village will be awarded according to the performances. VDB Association members and block officials also delivered short speeches. Earlier, the programme, chaired by DRDA Zunheboto district project officer Inavi Chishi, began with invocation prayer by Rev Ghoshito Evangelist SBAK Nito Mount. BDO Satoi Zhimo extended the welcome note. BDO Ghatashi Khukiye said the benediction. (Correspondent)
KIPHIRE: Observance of MGNREGA Day was held at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall, Kiphire with village councils and members of Kiphire district under DRDA Kiphire. SDO (Civil) Sardar, Dr. Tinojungshi Kiphire graced the occasion as chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Tinojungshi emphasised on the importance of human investment through schemes. He said “assisting on human is the greatest investment” and urged the gathering not to depend much on machines but use man power and focus on real work for individual benefits. SDO (C) said check and balanced should be implemented in the field of every works. He urged all responsible to work for the betterment of the district and asked BDOs to supervise their concern blocks. The programme was chaired by DRDA Kiphire PO (MGNREGA), Razukhru D. Vasa, Litsamong chairman, Phelungre village graced the programme, welcome address by BDO R.D Block Kiphire Hongtan Chingkhong, PD/DPC DRDA Kiphire Town, Azenuo Pienyü gave a key note address. Vote of thanks by K. Langshu BDO R.D Block Longmatra and benediction by Threlongla Pungro Village.

Peren: MGNREGA Day was observed in Peren with DC Peren Peter Lichamo as the chief guest. Others who spoke on the occasion include– joint director, RD Thungdeno and Temjennuken, PO, DRDA. The programme was chaired by Ajungba Yaden APC, DRDA Peren and vote of thanks pronounced by Zeiba, DPO, DRDA, Peren.
