Advisor Horticulture, Mhathung Yanthan visited various farms in Gariphema village under Kohima district and interacted with the farmers, accompanied by director and mission director (MIDH) Dr. R. Elithung Lotha, DHO Kohima Ayieno Hibo, DPO LRD, Dr. Menuosetuo Tseikha and team member NBHM, Kohima in-charge, Neilazonuo Terhüja on December 14.
Mhathung in his address expressed interest to facilitate integrated farming of all Agriculture and Allied departments, which he said was the vision of the PDA government under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio, to uplift the village and rural economies. He also stressed on the need for Value Added Marketing and said that the department was focusing on creating a market for Nagaland Farm products. The team visited the popular lime and orange farms of Shürhi Farmer Society, Gariphema led by the society’s president, Pukhato Kire, and the group also visited coffee and avocado plantations.
