WOKHA, MAY 16 (NPN): Advisor for Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan continued his constituency tour on May 16 by visiting various institutions and inaugurating developmental projects accompanied by officials from different departments.
During the tour, the advisor visited the Polytechnic Institute, Doyang, where he inspected the landslide-affected area near the institute. He discussed issues related to the damage and associated challenges in the presence of the deputy commissioner of Wokha, chairman of Lotha Hoho and various district department heads.
Later, Yanthan visited Sungro Government Higher Secondary School and interacted with teachers and students. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized that schools should not only impart academic knowledge but also equip students with employable skills and a sense of responsibility. Stressing the importance of practical learning alongside academics, he encouraged students to nurture creativity and innovation.
He lauded the school for promoting extracurricular activities and appreciated the collective efforts of teachers, students and the community towards the institution’s growth. Acknowledging infrastructural gaps and existing challenges, he assured that the concerns raised during the visit would be pursued further.
During the programme, the advisor also distributed gifts to students and encouraged them to work hard and strive for excellence in life.
The sdvisor further visited GPS Pangti, where he distributed gifts as well as kitchen and gardening tools to students and teachers.
Earlier in the day, Yanthan inaugurated the rostrum at the football ground in Okotso Village which was built as part of the Iconic Project LADP Fund 2025–2026.
Addressing the gathering, he expressed gratitude to the landowners for donating land for developmental activities and urged the villagers to make proper use of the facility while maintaining cleanliness and upkeep.
He remarked that the playground and rostrum at Okotso would serve as a dedicated space for the community to gather, play, learn and grow together. The dedication programme was led by Pastor AGCO, Rev. Zuchamo Shitiri.
