
With an aim to inculcate the importance of Naga culture and exhibit the talent of the students, Mount Hermon Higher Secondary School (MHHSS) Kenezou Kohima conducted two-day cultural and literary meet under the theme “nurturing excellence” which concluded, Friday with Manager Human resource of de Oriental Grand Hotel Imchala as the chief guest.
In her address, Imchala highlighted the importance of preserving the culture and traditions and added that it was essential for the students to know about it apart from academic knowledge.
She also encouraged the students to choose their profession as per their interest and talent and asked them to work hard and determined to achieve their goals.
Earlier, the programme was compeered by Aben and Yuizat, invocation prayer was said by Annie Kath, welcome address was delivered by Sonia Dey, welcome song was presented by MHHSS choir, brief exhortation by Mimi Raman administrator, vote of thanks was tendered by Ihouilung while benediction was said Moses headmaster.
Various competition events were held during the programme, in folk dance class 10 and class 12 bagged the first and second prize respectively, in music recital Senwachu and Shyerhunlo bagged first and second prize, in spelling bee Kevineinuo, Pekrusanuo and Vetotalü won the prize, Mhasekho, Keniesezo, Ankita bagged first, second and third prize in extempore speech respectively and in musical drama class 9 and class XI won the first and second prize respectively.
Various competition items was also held on the first day like singing, rhyme, poem recitation, quiz, dancing, storytelling, fancy show and others.
