Military Station Zakhama conductsEx-Servicemen Outreach Programme

DIMAPUR: Military Station Zakhama conducted an Ex Servicemen (ESM) Outreach Programme on July 9 in Kohima district, aimed at strengthening engagement with the veteran community and addressing issues concerning Ex Servicemen and their dependents.
According to PRO and Spokesperson, ministry of defence, the programme witnessed the participation of 24 ex servicemen and four war widows from the region. It commenced with a welcome address highlighting the Army’s continued commitment towards the welfare of veterans and their families.
An informative session on the SPARSH pension system was conducted by the Officer in Charge, Ex Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Station Cell, who apprised attendees of recent updates and procedures related to pension administration and grievance redressal.
Director, Rajya Sainik Board (RSB), Nagaland, addressed the gathering on welfare initiatives being undertaken by the Government of Nagaland and the Department of Ex Servicemen Welfare (DESW) for the benefit of veterans, widows and dependents.
Officer in Charge, Pension Cell, briefed participants on recent policies concerning veterans and updated them on the progress of a new facility being developed to enhance services and support for the veteran community. An interactive open house session followed, providing Ex Servicemen and widows the opportunity to raise concerns, discuss challenges and seek clarifications. The outreach concluded with a community lunch, fostering camaraderie and reinforcing the enduring bond between the Armed Forces and the veteran fraternity.
