Mimkut Hornbill Festival from today

Government of Nagaland, in collaboration with the Kuki Inpi Nagaland (KIN), Kuki Students’ Organisation Nagaland (KSON) and Kuki Nute Kiloikhom (KNK), is set to hold the 8th State Level Mimkut Mini Hornbill Festival 2019 at Ahthibung Town, Peren, Nagaland from January 15 to 17. 

A press release from Media cell, KIN and KSON stated that special guests for the festival will be deputy chief minister, Y Patton, advisor Tourism Art & Culture, H. Khehovi Yepthomi, advisor Water Resources, Namri Nchang, advisor Youth Resources & Sports, Er. Zale Neikha, and IRSSE deputy manager NFR, Kailen Singson. 

The release stated that the three day long festival will include the unveiling of Lengjang Kuki’s (Signatory Simon Commission 1929) Statue and Memorial Park, inauguration of Mimkut Monolith, and other extravaganza items.

Mimkut Festival, the release said, is a post harvest and  a major ancestral festival of the Kuki Community of Nagaland observed to perform rites and rituals for bountiful harvest. The festival is to be celebrated under the theme “Unity and Fraternity”.
