Zeliang, Peren Town Council chairperson Mireulung Sephe said traditional festivals reflect the rich cultural heritage, identity and unity of communities while reminding people of their responsibility to preserve the wisdom and traditions of their forefathers.

He encouraged younger generations to take pride in their heritage and carry forward traditional values and practices.
In his address, Throngso Yimkhiung said festivals represent much more than traditional songs, dances and attire, as they embody a community’s history, identity, values and way of life.
He observed that traditional celebrations promote thanksgiving, sharing and fellowship while strengthening friendship, peace and unity among people. Highlighting the common cultural roots shared by Naga tribes despite differences in language and customs, he remarked that cultural diversity should be viewed as a strength rather than a barrier.
Throngso appreciated the state government’s initiative in promoting unity through the Hornbill and Mini Hornbill festivals and stressed the importance of dialogue, patience, mutual respect and understanding in resolving differences.
