After being allotted incharge of departments, the newly appointed ministers, advisors and MLAs have been holding coordination meetings with their respective departments. Apart from this, departments also organised felicitation programmes to welcome the ministers and advisors.
Kaito holds ‘appraisal meeting’
Minister of PWD (R&B), G. Kaito Aye held an “appraisal meeting” of the PWD (R&B) department at his office chambers, Nagaland Civil Secretariat on Tuesday.
Kaito conveyed appreciation to the department for making progress in the road sector and encouraged them to be more active and diligent and focus on quality achievement and successful completion of works. He reminded the officers that project priority should be for proper connectivity to habitation areas as good roads will lead to better economy and social well-being of the communities.
The meeting was attended by commissioner and secretary, Works & Housing, Jt. Secy. (W&H), Engineer-in-Chief NPWD, Chief Engineer PWD (R&B), Addl. CE PWD(R&B), Superintending Engineer (Design) and Executive Engineers of various programme under PWD(R&B).
At the meeting, the commissioner secretary highlighted the policy issues, policy changes by the government of India for various schemes/programmes.
Engineer-in-Chief NPWD and chief engineer PWD(R&B) spoke on how the department could deliver best service to the people.
Addl CE in his remarks acknowledged that Nagaland has the best team of engineers and prayed that with technological improvement and upgradation of technical facilities and inputs the department can reach greater heights.
DP&S felicitates Er. Kropol
Directorate of Printing & Stationery felicitated, advisor, Printing & Stationery & Prisons, Er. Kropol Vitsu at the programme held at its office conference hall on Tuesday.
At the programme, director, Printing & Stationery, Neituolie Phewhuo welcomed the advisor and highlighted the departmental activities including its branch press office in Chmukedima and Mokokchung.
Advisor, Er. Kropol Vitsu, in his address sought cooperation in order to upgrade and improve the department. He assured that facelift of the department will be taken up and urged every staff to respect the positions so that plans and visions could be achieved considerably.
The program was chaired by registrar L. Ongpa Phom and was attended by department officers and entourage of the advisor.
Hekani inspects industrial sites, projects
Advisor of Industries & Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu along with commissioner and secretary, Kekhrievor Kevichusa, director, A. Temjen Jamir and department officials inspected industrial sites and projects of the department in Dimapur and Chümoukedima districts on April 10.
A DIPR report stated that the purpose of the visit was to assess the functioning of the industrial sites and to identify areas where improvements can be made.
During the inspection, the team toured the project site at Toluvi Village, factory site at Viola Colony, Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre (NTTC), Industrial Growth Centre (IGC) and Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Ganeshnagar.
The advisor also engaged in a session of discussion with officers of the Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre and interacted with the students.
Hekani commended the department for its continued work in promoting industrial activities and commerce in the state.
She urged the officials to take steps to attract more investments and create more job opportunities for the people of Nagaland.
NST welcomes Temjenmenba
Advisor of Transport and Technical Education, Temjenmenba paid a maiden visit to the office of the General Manager, Nagaland State Transport, Dimapur on April 10.
A press release by general manager of NST, Shikaho P. Yeptho informed that the advisor during his visit, held an in-depth and interactions with the officers and staff of the department.
He also enquired about the various areas that needed improvement and encouraged the officers and staff to strive vigorously for overall improvement of the activities of the department.
The advisor further urged the officers and staff to assist and extend support to deliver best services to the public.
Shikaho P.Yeptho while welcoming the advisor highlighted the various challenges and grievances faced by the department.
He said that the department, currently required numbers of new buses as most of the buses were 15 years and above.
IPR fetes Imkong L Imchen
Department of Information & Public Relations felicitated advisor, Information & Public Relations, Soil and Water Conservation, Imkong L. Imchen at a programme held at IPR Conference Hall, Kohima on April 11.
In his address, Imkong said the image of the government depends on IPR department as it plays an important role in disseminating news and information to the public.
He called upon the officers and staff of the department to work sincerely reminding them that they were to serve the people.
Director, Dzüvinuo Theünuo in her speech said that the department was lucky to have such a tall and seasoned leader, who has concern about the department. She assured full cooperation of the officers and staff for the best functioning of the department. She also briefed the advisor about the structures of the department from the Directorate to the Information Centres across the State.
Besides that, the department has PROs in Delhi, Raj Bhawan and an Information Cell at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat.
She mentioned that the department has been regularly live streaming State-level programmes and other important events. She also said that the department has been actively engaged on various social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. She added the department has installed Public Address System in 11 districts and has also set up LED display in some districts.
Commissioner & Secretary IPR, V. Maria Yanthan in her address hoped that the department will prosper to a greater height under Imchen’s leadership. She thanked the officers and staff of the department for their sacrifices and services and appealed them to uphold the hardworking spirit despite of many limitations.

Dr. Neisatuo Mero felicitated
Dr. Neisatuo Mero MLA of 16th Pfutsero A/C was felicitated at the Pfutsero sub-division co-ordination meeting-cum-felicitation programme held at ADC’s Conference Hall, Pfutsero on April 11.
ADC Pfutsero, Japheth Woch, congratulated the newly elected MLA and assured co-operation for the development of the Sub-Division. He said Pfutsero constituency was peaceful during the 14th NLA election which he added was all possible due to teamwork of the officers and staff on duty.
Dr. Neisatuo Mero, in his speech thanked the ADC and his team for conducting the general election peacefully. He called upon all the officers to share their plans, ideas and views with him for all-round development of the constituency. He assured to take up all round development in road, water facilities, education and health sector with the higher authorities.

Konyak CSOs felicitate legislators
Konyak Civil Societies headed by Konyak Union felicitated the Konyak legislators of 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly on April 11 at Konyak Union Conference Hall.
Delivering welcome address, Konyak Union president, Tingthok congratulated and thanked the legislators for attending the programme despite of their busy schedule. He requested them to work for the development of Konyaks.
Also, delivering short speech KNSK president Ponglem highlighted grievances faced by Konyak in general in Mon district. Konyak Students’ Union president Noklem requested the legislators to look into the developmental failures like roads, electricity and network problems.
He also reminded them about the Platinum Jubilee of Konyak Students’ Union.
Speaking on behalf of Konyak legislators, advisor of Social Welfare, Noke Wangnao said peace and cooperation was important for development and urged the Konyak Civil Societies to maintain friendly environment.

State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) held an introductory meeting with minister of Rural Development and SIRD, Metsubo Jamir on April 11 at SIRD Computer Lab Kohima.
A report by DIPR stated that at the meeting a brief presentation of the activities and programmes of SIRD was presented by principal, ETC Phek, Dr. Kedise Pucho; senior lecturer, SIRD, Dr. Juthsutho Phoji and senior lecturer, SIRD, Dr. Adino Vitso respectively.
Addressing the officers of SIRD, Metsubo congratulated the staff for their achievements in recent years and said that he was impressed with the professional approach of the officers of the department while carrying out various programmes and activities assigned to the department.
He stressed on the need to restructure and streamline the activities of SIRD and department of Rural Development so that the two departments complement each other and work hand in hand towards a common goal.
The minister also said that SIRD must expand their activities through assimilation and diversification of more programmes of the Rural Development and encouraged the department to enhance their media and printing facilities.
He advised department to take up activities to sensitize the public regarding their activities.
