
A workshop/seminar on “awareness on schemes of development commissioner (handicrafts) and GI registration E–Commerce, GeM portal, GST etc” for ST artisans under research & development schemes (2021-22) was held on September 15 in Kohima. The workshop was inaugurated by director, industries & commerce, K. Hokishe Assumi.
In a press release, senior assistant director (H), informed that the workshop/seminar was organised by the office of the development commissioner (handicrafts), Government of India, ministry of textiles, handicrafts service centre Kohima.
Speaking at the programme, Hokishe expressed happiness to share with the participants to be more productive and to be ready to export any time when the demand arises.
Senior assistant director (H), T. Rollee Vareishim, HSC- Kohima highlighted and explained various schemes of the development commissioner (handicrafts) for artisans.
Meanwhile, managing director, Nagaland women vocational training institute, Dimapur Temjenla Jamir shared the process and practical usage of E-Commerce and benefit of productive artisans for marketing.
Director in charge, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Kohima Region, Dr. Mayonmi Shimray also shared the facilities of artisans for admission while working at home and receiving degrees.
Empanelled designer of D.C (handicrafts), NE region, Vilekhoto Pusa explained the importance of design in any handicrafts productions and encouraged the participants to target attraction in any productions with valued designs.
Earlier, handicrafts promotion officer, HSC-Kohima, Rajib Chandra Roy shared the importance and necessity of government e-marketing (GeM) portal and geographical indication (GI) of either handicrafts or handlooms so that no one can copy the productions.
