Miracle Survival: Passenger in Emergency Exit Seat Escapes Air India Crash

In a tragic disaster that claimed the lives of nearly all passengers aboard Air India flight AI171, 38-year-old British national Ramesh Vishwaskumar Bucharvada emerged as the sole survivor.

Bucharvada was seated in 11A, a window seat located directly behind an emergency exit on the London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. Shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad airport, the aircraft crashed, leading to widespread devastation. A video captured after the accident shows an injured Bucharvada walking towards an ambulance, recalling the horrifying moment: “The plane exploded.”

Ahmedabad Police Commissioner G.S. Malik confirmed Bucharvada’s survival, stating that he is receiving treatment at a hospital. The flight carried 230 passengers and 12 crew members. Radar data indicated that the aircraft climbed only 625 feet before losing contact with air traffic control, crashing into a hostel building of B.J. Medical College and Hospital.

Rescue operations were swiftly undertaken, with authorities and armed forces working tirelessly to manage the situation. Officials continue assessing the scale of the tragedy while emergency responders and investigators remain at the crash site.
