Mission SOAR aims to transform Nagaland’s education system

DIMAPUR:

Mission SOAR Nagaland, in collaboration with the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), organised a one-day workshop on March 13 to explore the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education and textbook innovation.
The sessions introduced participants to practical applications of AI in academia, workplace productivity, syllabus design, textbook blueprinting and development. A highlight of the workshop was the demonstration of Sakhee, a custom AI application developed by Shikha Institute to support the creation of high-quality textbooks aligned with the NCF and NEP.
Speaking at the programme, Kevisato, founder of NagaEd and director of Elevate Foundation, said AI is not a replacement for educators but a tool to strengthen their work in building better schools and futures. Daniel Thong, Head of IE & ICT, SCERT, noted that the workshop helped participants view AI as a practical tool to improve quality and processes in education. Deputy director SCERT, Temjenmenla, added that AI can support lesson planning, administration, and management strategies.
Karishma Shanghvi, director of Shikha Institute and Mission SOAR consortium partner, said the goal of Sakhee is to support rigorous and relevant curriculum material aligned with national frameworks, stressing that Nagaland’s students deserve the best.
The workshop concluded with discussions on school leadership course structures and action steps for the way forward. Mission SOAR, a state-wide initiative, seeks to transform public education in Nagaland into an agile, inclusive and high-performing system rooted in Naga identity while aligned with national priorities and global aspirations.
