DIMAPUR: Modern Institute of Teacher Education (MITE), Kohima, conducted an extension-cum-outreach programme at Tuophema village on October 24 under the aegis of its Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Cell, focusing on grassroots data collection and community engagement.
As part of the programme, B.Ed. third-semester student-teachers carried out a comprehensive baseline household survey among village residents. The survey covered various socio-economic indicators, including household and family information, migration status, access to water sources, energy and power supply, landholding patterns, agricultural inputs, annual produce, livestock resources, and the reach and utilisation of government welfare schemes.
The student-teachers also interacted with villagers and helped clarify queries related to various government schemes. They explained eligibility criteria and benefits available under different programmes with the aim of enhancing awareness and improving access to government services. UBA coordinator Zuchano M. Patton provided detailed orientation and guidance to the student-teachers.
