MITE hosts awareness program on oral health and tobacco control

Tobacco Control Cell of Modern Institute of Teacher Education (MITE), in collaboration with Modern Higher Secondary School, organized awareness programme titled “Protect Your Oral Health; Say No to Tobacco” on Wednesday, at the MITE Auditorium. The event was aimed to bridge gap between dental hygiene and the prevention of tobacco-related illnesses.
A press release by MITE stated that delivering the keynote address Dr. Atounuo Rutsa, a distinguished dentist from GDC Mumbai provided comprehensive overview of how tobacco acts as a primary catalyst for severe health complications.
Key takeaways from her address included detailed explanations on how tobacco use leads to chronic gum disease and oral cancer, necessity of rigorous daily oral hygiene practices to maintain long-term health, and encouraging students to commit to a tobacco-free lifestyle to ensure overall physical well-being.
“Choosing to stay tobacco-free is not just a dental health decision; it is a commitment to a longer, healthier life”, Dr. Rutsa remarked.
The release added that the session was presided over by Pelevino Neikha, invocation offered by Zulutemla and welcome address delivered by Assistant Professor and Teacher-in-Charge of the Tobacco Control Cell, Holivi Y. Kiba.
