The 14th foundation cum cultural day of Modern Institute of Teacher Education (MITE) was held on March 1 with Achumbemo Kikon, MLA, as special guest.
According to MITE principal Dr. Kate Dandesh Kumar, Achumbemo in his speech encouraged the students to cultivate a habit of reading and thoroughly equipping themselves to an impact, by citing a reference from the book written by Paulo Coelho- The Alchemist.
Achumbemo also lauded the cultural display by the students and challenged the student-teachers to not stop pursuing academic excellence and cautioned that, “unlike in the olden days, if one is not properly trained, one will become disoriented”. He also encouraged the student-teachers to be serious readers and use technology judiciously.
Earlier, the programme commenced with an introduction on cultural significance by the chairperson of the programme Senulu Tetseo and a prayer by Dr. Rajesh Babu Pammi, Asst. Professor of MITE followed by cultural display- a sprightly performance of traditional practices of the Nagas by student-teachers of MITE.
Delivering speech, Dr. Kate Dandesh Kumar highlighted the achievements of the college and acknowledged the late founder of MITE- S. Hekha Mao for his visionary grit.
He also thanked the Managing Director and teaching faculty for not only maintaining academic excellence but holistic development. The formal session continued with a Bamboo Dance performance, presentation and special number by the Red Ribbon Club.
