Twenty-one Mithun farmers from Siang and West Siang districts of Arunachal Pradesh participated in a two-day training programme on Scientific Mithun Husbandry for Enhanced Productivity and Profitability. The event was organized by ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun (NRCM), Medziphema, on July 22 and 23.
The training offered a structured blend of theoretical insights and hands-on sessions, aiming to improve farming practices and boost productivity. According to a press release from ICAR, topics covered included semi-intensive rearing systems, breeding techniques, disease management, and entrepreneurial opportunities related to Mithun meat and milk.
Practical demonstrations such as casting, restraining, and tagging enriched the participants’ learning experience by enhancing their technical skills.
ICAR stated that the programme was tailored to equip farmers with scientific methods to optimize Mithun husbandry, contributing to economic gains and sustainable livestock management in the region.
