Aizawl, Oct 2 (PTI): Mizoram Governor Vijay Kumar Singh and senior state ministers on Friday paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 157th birth anniversary, officials said.
The governor, along with Home Minister K Sapdanga, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister C Lalsawivunga; Environment, Forests and Climate Change Minister Lalthansanga, School Education Minister Dr Vanlalthlana, Information and Public Relations Minister B Lalchhanzova and Rural Development and Administration Minister Lalnilawma paid floral tributes at Gandhi’s statue at the government secretariat here.
Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena, DGP Sharad Agarwal and other senior government officials also attended the ceremony and paid tributes to the Father of the Nation. The governor and the officials also took part in a cleanliness drive under the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, sweeping the premises to underline Gandhi’s emphasis on cleanliness, hygiene and public service, officials added.
