
In order to ease traffic and add beautification to the town, Mokokchung division in collaboration with Mokokchung police and district administration installed road dividers in the form of floral pots.
Speaking at a brief dedicatory programme, deputy commissioner (DC) Mokokchung, Limawapang Jamir informed that the dividers were created with a dual-purpose including beautification of the town and conservation of the rich biodiversity.
The DC sought for the support of the citizens in keeping the initiative alive and encouraged them to actively participate in the bid to make the town a better place to live.
Reminding the people that Mokokchung was awarded the cleanest town last year, he called upon the people to live up the tag.
He further requested the citizens to cooperate in order to streamline the traffic and make the town beautiful.
Earlier, district forest officer (DFO) Mokokchung, Dr. Sentitula who chaired the programme also said that the initiative was a collective and a multi-functional effort between the forest department, Mokokchung police and district administration.
She hoped that through the beautification, citizens of the town would learn to preserve the biodiversity and also streamline the smooth flow of traffic.
She further disclosed that the youth department of Mokokchung Town Baptist Arogo (MTBA) would be the guardians of this initiative.
